En medio de la crisis sanitaria del nuevo coronavirus, en Estados Unidos se realizó una nueva edición de los VMAs (Video Music Awards) 2020, premiación realizada por MTV y que busca premiar los mejores videos musicales del año en diversas cateogrías.
Este año, la premiación está marcada por la pandemia, por lo que el evento se realiza en diversos escenarios de Nueva York sin público.
La ceremonia adicionalmente contó con un homenaje a diversas personalidades del mundo del espectáculo, entre ellas, al fallecido actor Chadwick Boseman, conocido por su rol de "Black Panther" y que murió a los 43 años producto de un cáncer de páncreas.
Por primera vez, el grupo surcoreano BTS, estuvo nominado en varias categorías y junto a Lady Gaga, fue uno de los grandes ganadores de la premiación.
Además, se se presentaron Lady Gaga, CNCO, The Weekend, entre otros artistas. Uno de los grandes ausentes fue J-Balvin, quien está contagiado de COVID-19.
